Latest News... August 2007 Update
After the intense pressures of ARWC I have enjoyed a wonderful ‘holiday’ at The Hebridean Challenge. Team NAV +art participated in ‘The Heb’, having a great time and enjoying ourselves very much. ‘The Heb is great adventure and you can read more about it in my Heb report.
This past weekend I also enjoyed helping out at the Open24 event, which got excellent reviews, and was a tough journey based in the Western and Central Lakeland fells. John Allen and Louise Wilkinson did very well to maintain their good scoring in the Endurance Series and have finished third in the Mixed Pairs. This is a pretty good result following ‘The Worlds’ and considering the disruption to John’s training recently.
NAV +art September 22/23… ‘Yes’ , it’s back at Bampton. Our September NAV +art training course returns to it’s previous venue at Bampton and will use the Lake District’s Eastern Fells. The weekend course will be very much focused on prep for the forthcoming OMM, but is good open terrain navigation training for any adventure racer. We will be able to use 1:40 scale KIMM maps from the 2005 event during weekend. Evening indoor workshops will discuss travelling light and all manner of AR skills. There are currently places still available and you can book simply by download a booking form and posting it to me with a deposit. Alternatively, you can pay by internet banking if you wish; email your booking form to me and request bank details.
GL3Day 2008
We have received various emails about next year’s event mainly asking, “Is there one? and “Where is it?” Apparently, after the success of our Welsh adventure 2008 it is going to be in Scotland according to one conversation I over heard at the weekend! Although the couple discussing it were very complimentary about GL3Day, this isn’t true, as far as I’m concerned and I can confirm that the event will return to The Lakes for 2008. Further details will be announced in the Autumn and will be on this website first.
